The list of famously talented individuals born in the Tri City is quite impressive from Rozanda "Chilli" Thomas, Wayne Brady host of "Lets Make A Deal" to musical super producer Dallas Austin. Now this Columbus native hopes to follow in their footsteps with his Internationally award nominated record and video "On Da Floor" which placed him instantly in direct competition with Reggae legends such as Buju Banton and Shaggy. Being the son of a Disk Jockey Hollywood 40 was born with a love for music of all genres and becoming a self taught church musician at the age of 12 balanced him out by giving him an early glimpse of music theory. Early life for Hollywood was the norm of any adolescent of inner city communities but even harder for him being out of school by the 9th grade. Brushes with the law forced him to ask his parents to sign him over to the military as away to give himself a chance but his passion for music proved to make that extremely difficult. He was known for rewriting army cadences and company mottos for units of 400+ soldiers which made him more known as "dope rapper" than a "good soldier". While deployed to Iraq he was constantly reprimanded and sentenced to non judicial punishment that's called 45/45 which is 45 days of extra duty and restriction to the fob, but being as popular as he was as a rap artist, his units First Sergeant would use him as away to show off on other units by allowing him to open up for major artist on the MWR tours all while being on 45/45. While on the red carpet to be kicked out of the army the advice that the Captain & First Sergeant giving him the boot was word for word "Private Day whatever you do out there just make sure it involves music, Good-luck". Now back on the streets his options were limited to the same circumstances he once tried to run from and inevitably it caught up with him. In a accidental shooting "40" was charged with involuntary manslaughter for the shooting death of someone he considered a brother. Having someone you love die in your arms as well as facing charges for it would take it's tole on anyone but "40" didn't panic nor run like most would do, instead he tried to save his life and held him until the police arrived and gave himself up instantly. A high profile case in the area he dealt with heavy scrutiny from the media as well as rumors over "why he did it" and "what people think really happened" circulating through the streets which can be extremely dangerous. While in jail he made a deal with God that if he gets another chance he would put his energy in music and music only, and judging by all of the local awards he's won and the international award nominations against Grammy winners in Hollywood, California they both kept their promises. God was clearly molding him for the up's and downs of what was yet to come because since the conclusion of that case he's opened up for major artist in arenas such as NBA Youngboy, Jeezy, Trina, Boosie, and a few others, He's built an award winning live band and has sold out concerts in his hometown which is not easy for artist whose not already mainstream, he's been featured in stage plays, commercials as well as news outlets, shot music videos with entire old high schools marching band, booked for shows all across the southern region and most of the east coast. What makes all of this most impressive is that he's done it all on his own without ever releasing an album or mixtape, only innovative marketing approaches with singles, he's done it without a manager, investor or any form of front office help, which means he still has yet to hit his cruising altitude and the possibilities are endless. The Hollywood 40 story is one made for film, his complete detailed biography would be the length of a novel, his life matched with his musical ability is one designed by God to be a perfect example of how to persevere and chase our dreams no matter whose with us or against us. In a world where artist depending on quick trends to take them far "40" sales his ability to attach to people thru his genuine motivation, versatility and amazing stage shows. Some people choose to do things and some people are born to do things and he's definitely in the latter category. In the words of Hollywood 40 himself "Let's Go Bigger".
